Hailed as a “gracious and enchanting” performer, mezzo-soprano Rocio Martinez is a singer of international experience. A regular performer of concert, opera, jazz, musical theatre and new music. She appeared in the world premiere of Roger Ames’ opera How Green Was My Valley in the role of Chambermaid, with the MAC Holiday 2015 “Magic of the Night” Campaign as a featured jazz soloist, and playing the role of Rosalia in Canadian production of West Side Story. Other roles include the Second Lady in The Magic Flute and the cover of Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd in the UTEP Opera’s productions.
As a concert soloist, her appearances include the production and performance of “Una Noche en Broadway” (A Night on Broadway) and her featured concerts in El Festival de las Tres Culturas in Chihuahua, MEX. and El Festival de la Guelaguetza in Oaxaca, MEX. Also, she has participated in the productions of Barber of Seville and La Boheme with El Paso Opera as well as in concert settings with El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and El Paso Choral Society.
Miss Martinez was awarded with a Certificate in Performing Arts form the Canadian College of Performing Arts and graduated with Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.
